About The Project:
Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally operating nature conservation organisation based in Germany, supporting conservation projects in Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe for many decades. Guided by our mission to conserve wildlife and ecosystems, we focus on protected areas and outstanding wild places. In South America, FZS concentrates its efforts on the Amazon rainforest and has expanded its engagement in the region in recent years, aiming to increase its impact on this globally important biome and all associated biodiversity. Established in 2024, FZS Brazil (FZSB) is in its first year of operation, working in close partnership with ICMBio in focal areas such as the Pico da Neblina National Park, Serra do Divisor National Park and Juami Japurá Ecological Station.
About The Position:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Finance & Administration Officer (gn) to establish and maintain robust financial and administrative systems that enable FZS Brazil to operate effectively, transparently, and in full compliance with local regulations and organizational standards. By providing a strong operational foundation, the role will support the long-term success and growth of our conservation programmes in the Brazilian Amazon.

Your Tasks:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial, procurement, and administrative policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Brazilian legislation, audit requirements, donor regulations, and FZS global standards
- Oversee accurate accounting, financial controls, and the integrity of FZS Brazil's financial records
- Support the design and optimization of administrative and operational workflows that strengthen organizational efficiency
- Coordinate annual budgeting processes, financial planning, and periodic reforecasts in close collaboration with the Country Coordinator and FZS Germany
- Monitor project expenditures, financial performance, and budget utilization across conservation programs
- Prepare high-quality financial reports, statements, and analyses for management, donors, auditors, and other stakeholders
- Support organizational compliance by managing insurance policies, registrations, permits, contracts, and operational licenses
- Contribute to the continued institutional growth and long-term sustainability of FZS Brazil
Your Profile
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management, or a related field (postgraduate qualification or MBA preferred)
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in finance, accounting, administration, or organizational management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and accounting software
- Highly detail oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize, and structure work effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Advanced English language skills, both written and spoken
- Residence in Manaus (AM) or willingness to relocate
- Genuine enthusiasm for nature conservation and the mission of FZSB
